Alright - Janet Jackson
The sudden passing of rapper Heavy D today brought out this trivia nugget that he was the only person to perform a rap on a Janet Jackson song (“Alright”) and a Michael Jackson song (“Jam”). Where is the Minneapolis connection you ask? Well, the song “Alright” is off the 1989 album Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814 which was recorded and produced right here in Minneapolis by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis at Flyte Tyme Studios.
