Your PARK(ing) Day Primer.

Ok y’all, tomorrow is PARK(ing) Day! What is PARK(ing) Day you ask?

PARK(ing) Day is an annual, one-day, global event where artists, activists, and citizens collaborate to temporarily transform metered parking spots into “PARK(ing)” spaces: temporary public parks.

Pretty awesome right? That’s why Troy and I decided to help organize it in the Twin Cities this year. We’re super pumped that there will be 7 to 10 PARK(ing) spots for you to check out and take a load off at tomorrow between 10AM and 3PM. Here are 5 ways you can follow along and get involved:

Follow us on Twitter where I will be “live-tweeting” throughout the day. Or at least attempting to.

Check out the PARK(ing) Day Twin Cities 2009 Map to find a PARK near you.

Go to the after-party at the West Bank Social Center from 5 to 8PM.

Follow us on Tumblr as we collect all the documentation from tomorrow’s event and start planning for next year. And boy, do we have plans.

Join the PARK(ing) Day Twin Cities group on Facebook to show your support. We’re already 110 members strong!
Most importantly, just enjoy the day! If you work in Minneapolis, take a stroll through the warehouse district on your lunch break. You might be surprised!
